The grading scale used is A, B, C, D, and F. A and B are honor grades, F is failing, and no credit is awarded for this grade. A student who has received an F in any class will not be placed on the honor roll, compiled and released at the end of each grading period. A student who receives a final grade of F in any required course must take that course again prior to graduation.
A grade of “I” for “Incomplete” indicates that the student has not finished his/her required work and has been given more time to do so. It must be changed to A, B, C, D, or F prior to the end of the next grading period. Except in emergencies, no grade of “I” is given for the second semester, and end-of-year grades are final.
Grades will be reported to the student and his or her parents at the end of each 9-week period. Mid-term grades will be sent home after the first 4.5 weeks of each term. Only semester and final grades are recorded on the student’s permanent school record.
SCHS utilizes an online program called LiveGrades. With an activation code students and parents can create an account and monitor a student’s grades. Teachers also will post mid-term grades at 4 ½ weeks and update grades weekly. Please contact the school Technology Integration Specialist to obtain account information.
Grades awarded for individual classes are the exclusive responsibility of the teacher. Each teacher determines the requirements to be met for passing grades in the classes he or she teaches, and whether the student has met them.
